49 killed after Continental Airlines Express flight 3407 crashes into Buffalo home

A terrible tragedy is unfolding tonight outside Buffalo, where a commercial airliner has crashed into a home.The flight originated from Newark and was making it’s way to Buffalo. It missed the airport by some six miles. Upon impact, the plane violently burst into flames. Among the 49 onboard the plane were 44 passengers, and 4 crew members. The FAA will begin investigations into the crash immediately.

Sadly, it is not yet known whether Continental Airlines Express flight 3407 has any survivors. Please note that this was at the time of this posting (nearly an hour after the story broke). Further details should emerge as morning comes upon us.

Continental Airlines Express flight 3407 was believed to have crashed at 10:20 PM EST. This was some 5 minutes before the aircraft was due for landing. It veered right into the home of a Buffalo resident. Nearby homes were evacuated to prevent any further fires. It is unclear at this time whether any occupants were in the home. We hope this is not the case.

Continental Airlines Express flight 3407 was a 74-seat plane. This fatal Buffalo plane crash follows one that occured in 2006 in Kentucky. In the former incident, 49 people died. The plane landed on too short of a runway.
