There is an unconfirmed report circulating online at the moment that the body of Paige Birgfeld has been found. Birgfeld, a Grand Junction, Colorado resident, disappeared in June of 2007 and with little for police to go by, the case went cold. Birgfeld, a 34-year old mother was headed to see her ex-husband the same day she vanished. According to reports, the two were in talks about reviving their relationship. The following day, Birgfeld’s automobile was discovered ablaze in a parking lot. Police weren’t able to recover many clues from the scene. When a search team was dispatched to try and locate any of Birgfeld’s belongings, volunteers were able to recover membership cards and the like from a Highway median. Eventually, a gun was also discovered. Since that time, police have come across very little in the case, and as we might imagine, this poor woman’s family continues to wonder what might have happened.

Birgfeld was a successful business women that operated a successful acupuncture business up until her disappearance. Perhaps her successful career could have made her a prime target for criminals. We will have to wait and see whether or not the Paige Birgfeld Body Found story is confirmed. We can’t imagine how eager Birgfeld’s family must be to finally get some closure in this horrible disappearance. Updates as they become available.

Police are busy tonight trying to determine why a Northern California man leaped to his death from a Qualcomm building in San Diego. The man, Keyur Malaviya, is believed to have fallen nearly twelves stories before plummeting to his death near the Qualcomm office buildings. Malaviya, a 28 year old who police positively identified as an employee that worked for the company, left little for police to go by as far as motives are concerned. All they have so far is some physical evidence that materialized as a result of the fall, including some broken glass which once acted as a fence for one of the building’s balconies, according to radio station KFMB 760 AM based out of San Diego. An employee working inside the building is said to have heard the impact of Keyur Malaviya’s body hitting the pavement. No other witnesses have been identified at this time. We can only hope that further investigation will shed some more insight into what exactly happened.

The news of this tragic suicide follows a string of otherwise unfortunate events, including the murder-suicide of Joseph Stack, a Texan man, who after having argued with his wife crashed a plane into an IRS office based in Texas. Stack left self-written literature behind for police to investigate, literature which largely highlights his disgust with the inner-workings of the United States government. Investigations into Stack’s background revealed a number of failed business ventures and periods of financial instability, including one instance where he had to relocate from California to Texas. It appears that Joseph Stack was also frustrated with the lack of engineering jobs available in the Texas area shortly before his death. His wife, Sheryl Stack, denied that Joseph was perceived of being capable of anything that he executed.

Whether it’s the economic mess that is causing all of these tragedies or not, we hope people continue forward while recovery efforts move forward. We are all more or less feeling the strains of this tough climate, but desperate actions such as the one’s you’ve read about above are never the answer.

There is some tragic news out of Alabama today, where 3 students from the University of Alabama in Huntsville were shot dead by what police identified as a female. Police have said that other students witnessed the shooting, which took place at 4:15pm. Please check back soon for further details on the University of Alabama school shooting. We will post further information, including the victims involved as well as information on the perpetrator, as it becomes available to media outlets.

We are hearing from MSNBC that 2 students were involved in the crime, however, police have yet to be able to identify any specific motive.

UPDATE: MSNBC is now reporting that a women, who police are saying was a staff member at the school, was first to discharge a weapon.

As we reported yesterday, many people across the country have been alarmed about a walmart shooting gang initiation text message which has been traveling around. Let us reassure you again that the walmart shooting gang initiation fear is irrational. Police departments have been receiving calls from worried persons questioning the validity of the text message they received. Hoaxes like this have happened in the past, and have similarly sparked fear in message recipients.

The walmart shooting gang initiation text was obviously distributed by someone whose sole goal was to spark fear in people. There is absolutely no excuse for someone to panic people without reason. It is unclear where investigations are underway to pinpoint the culprit that’s responsible for sending the walmart shooting gang initiation text message. Whomever or whatever individual or group is behind this can expect to suffer some rather severe consequences for spreading such malicious information.

Credible evidence as to the validity of the walmart shooting gang initiation has yet to come forward, and police departments are advising people to remain calm and continue about their daily lives. Some of our readers reported to have received the text message yesterday, while others today. Folks, you’re putting undue pressure on your police departments for something they cannot control. Supress your urge to give them a ring. This is merely misinformation that’s spreading around because someone thought it would be funny to play a prank.

Neighbors of Dennis Hayle are quite in a state of shock, trying to figure out just who shot their neighbor. Dennis Stewart Hayle’s shooter is also a mystery to police.

Christina Korbe, wife to imprisoned Robert Korbe, was arraigned today on charges stemming from the death of Spc. Agent Sam Hicks. Christina Korbe is believed to have gunned Hicks down. Christina Korbe is facing a homicide charge, a charge that could mean a hefty sentence for her if convicted. Christina Korbe is believed to have shot Hicks during an attempted arrest. The arrest was meant for her husband, who is a known cocaine dealer. Christina Korbe got involved in the arrest and proceeded to shoot the arresting agent.

Korbe, 40, had her two children by her side when her home was invaded by investigators. Her attorney claims that this was sufficient grounds for Christina Korbe to shoot Hicks. Christina Korbe claims that the officers never identified themselves as being part of the police department. Thus, she claims, she might had mis-identified Hicks as an intruder and thus proceeded to shoot him.

Christina Korbe’s husband is mentioned in an indictment alongside 35 other suspected drug traffickers. Christina Korbe’s husband was in court yesterday, being represented by a court-appointed attorney.

Our condolences go out to Sam Hick’s family. This is indeed a tragedy, and something that requires more investigation. As far as Christina Korbe goes, we can only hope she is tried to the full extent of the law as is her husband. However, what occurred requires further investigation as we can only guess as to her motives behind shooting the special agent.

Pictured Left: Teah Wimberly (15), charged with first degree murder and discharging a weapon on school grounds, poses for a Myspace photograph.

Pictured Bottom: Amanda Collette, victim, posing in personal photograph.

Amanda Collette, a 15 year old pupil from Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida fell victim to a

school shooting today, and unfortunately perished soon after she was discovered in a school hallway. Officials described Amanda Collette as “unresponsive” when discovered in the hallway.

Amanda Collette was a sophomore at Dillard High School up until this tragic incident today. A school official discovered Amanda Collette in the hallway of her high school. The official, a resource officer, came across Amanda’s body sometime around 11 a.m. Amanda was later confirmed to be dead.

Police may already have a suspect in Amanda Collette’s murder. An unidentified 15 year old girl, believed to be a student at Dillard High School, was retained for questioning by authorities.

Police are rather baffled as to how Amanda Collette may have been killed. No staff members nor students at Dillard High School reported hearing gunshots or other strange noises. The girl’s body also failed to furnish any evidence as to what may have caused her death. Although some media outlets are reporting that Amanda Collette was indeed shot, it is not clear at this time whether these reports are accurate.

Update: Fort Lauderdale police officials have confirmed that Amanda Collette was killed by a gunshot. They believe the shooter, who has yet to be identified, used a small caliber gun to commit the murder. The incident is believed to have only involved one female student from the school.

A sophomore at the school alleges that he saw the conflict unfold. Stephan Willis claims he was watching two girls in the hallway, one of them being Amanda Collette, arguing in the hallway. The other unidentified female allegedly furnished a gun and proceeded to shoot her classmate. Willis had known the victim since primary school.

Amanda Collette’s alleged killer was apprehended by police at a local restaurant. The police were able to retrieve the weapon used in the killing.

Although Dillard High School was placed in a lockdown state shortly following the shooting, it has since resumed its regular glass schedule. Dillard High School currently boasts a student body of some 1,700 students. The campus is guarded by security staff and is also monitored by security cameras.

This is indeed a sad story and our hearts go out to the Collette family. We can only hope that this situation increases security oversight in schools. We will be watching this story as more details unfold.

UPDATE: The unidentified girl police apprehended at a local restaurant was charged with Amanda Collette’s murder. Teah Wimberly, a student at the school, was charged with first degree murder and discharging a weapon on school grounds. Teah Wimberly is said to be cooperating with investigators.

When police arrested Wimberly at the restaurant, thanks to the help of a concerned local resident, she was found in possession of a firearm. Investigators believe that the shooting stemmed from a conflict between the two students.

A sophomore student at the school claims that Amanda Collette was attempting to purchase something from a vending machine when she was shot by Wimberly. Wimberly was said to like Collette, however Collette allegedly didn’t want to associate with the fellow classmate.

After found in the hallway, Amanda Collette was taken to nearby Broward General Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at the center.

Despite earlier reports, Devondrius Brown, a Dillard High School student, claims to have heard gunshots shortly before Collette collapsed. Brown was in a classroom within close proximity to the vending machines.

Those of you that are fans of online auction sites may find propertyroom.com your home away from home. Propertyroom.com is an online website that auctions off merchandise that’s been in posession of police departments. These items have been stored in property rooms for one reason or another. Since departments are legally bound to clean out these rooms, some turned to the internet for help. Most departments have lost money attempting to clean out these rooms, and thus cyberspace has been considered by many to be a possible solution to this problem.

Propertyroom.com has allowed departments nationwide to showcase their goods online, and thus hopefully make profit from them. Some departments that have already started participating in propertyroom.com include some from Cincinnati and Hamilton. Most items require that a prospective buyer place a bid, after all this is an auction site. However, you some items also have a buy it now feature where the purchaser can directly purchase the item.

Those that have used propertyroom.com have praised it as a real money saver. One customer saved nearly $350 by choosing to purchase an item from propertyroom.com.

Propertyroom.com is the brainchild of a police detective from New York. He noticed that many departments were losing money when trying to sell the items they had on hand in their property rooms.

Those that may see items stolen from there home on the site can actually get them back. However, there is a catch involved. You do indeed have to verify in one form or another that the item was once yours. If not, it is still up for grabs by anyone who is willing to place a bid for it on propertyroom.com.

Propertyroom.com has a large assortment of many different items. One can buy anything from a dehumidifier, to a television set. Police agencies that use the service don’t auction off all of the items in their property rooms. Some items that don’t fall within a certain criteria are typically destroyed.

We think propertyroom.com is an excellent idea and one that should have been purused sooner. It’ll ease up the resources departments need to use to auction items they have on hand and also allow them to garner more profits from them when it comes time to auction them off. Overall, propertyroom.com is truly worth a look and a service we’d consider using.

Many of the items we took a peek at looked to be really undervalued. If you happen to need anything, whether it be for your home or a gift, we encourage you to head over to propertyroom.com to check out their inventory. You will be impressed and will return for more.
