Who is Googling You? – Ziggs.com
A new service provided by Ziggs.com will help you answer “Who is Googling You?” Why you would want to know who’s been conducting research on you online is beyond us, unless of course you’re doing some illegal things, however this service claims it will be able to help you out in that pursuit. Ziggs.com works much in the same way as other social networking sites. Users signup for an account and create their own www.ziggs.com profile. In much the same way as other social networking sites, they can interact with one another and such.
Where Ziggs.com is different is that it allows you to see who’s searched your name and arrived at your profile via Google. Many people will undoubtedly find this feature useful, however it raises some privacy concerns. We’re not aware of the specific information ziggs.com will be releasing to its users in regards to the person who landed on their pages, but it’ll likely be a geographic location as well as an accompanying IP address. So whether or not you will know who exactly is googling you is questionable.
What should be interesting to see is how much people will be willing to pay for the ziggs.com service. Those who’re really concerned with the sort of content returned about them by search engines should definitely consider signing up for the Ziggs service. How you use the information provided via the service is up to you, however, you will be likely bound by certain terms and conditions.
Overall, the “Who is Gooling You?” excitement perpetuated by the Zigss.com service is a bit over-hyped, as it’s likely that users will be unable to much of anything with the referral information provided by the Ziggs service. Other than getting a general idea about the geographic location if the surfer and IP address, there won’t be much else they can do with the information.

In respect of the controversy – what controversy?! Don’t people have a right to know whose looking for them? I think its only supposedly controversial because its a new technology that most people aren’t aware of yet. As soon as most people know its out there then they’ll become comfortable with it. In fact, if you want contraversy – is it right that employers or organizations like Universities can search on the web for details about employees and students in order to see if there’s anything negative about them? This helps redress the balance. If you have a right to search for someone else’s personal details on the web, then maybe, just maybe, they have a right to know that you are looking – especially if they are trying to find out something negative about you.

which is a People Search engine with Global Address Book. Essentially, the service enables you to create a profile which is easily found by anyone looking for you using Google or another search engine. You are sent a Search Alert email if someone Googles you and clicks through to your profile. You should be able to see the geographical location of the searcher, their IP address, what business or organization they are at if that’s where they are based, the actual search engine and the keywords used to find you. Whilst its doesn’t tell you exactly WHO is trying to find out more about you, its fairly easy to work out if you have an old boyfriend / girlfriend / employer in that location.
Members to be easily contacted by old friends and colleagues without themselves being registered via the website’s messaging system. The member’s own email contact details are hidden, so they don’t risk it being seen by spammers and the messages are forwarded to the member by email.
