Broward County Schools Closed – Tropical Storm Fay
Many Broward county schools will be closed both Monday as Tropical Storm Fay approaches the area. Students were anticipating the start of the school year, which will take place later during the week. Broward county schools officials decided to close the school due to the high winds and and heavy rain the storm is believed to be packed with. The storm is expected to have sustained winds in excess of 39mph. In addition to schools, athletic events have also been cancelled.
Broward county schools teachers need to check in with their supervisors before deciding to remain home. Some school staff is required to attend Monday.
Broward County Schools officials will decide tommorow whether or not schools will also remain closed Tuesday.

Miami dade schools also closed
Miami dade schools will also be facing closures on both Monday and Tuesday. Over 600,000 children were expected to begin school tomorrow, but when school officials learned of approaching Tropical Storm Fay, they re-thought their plans. Parents whose children attend Miami dade schools should watch the local news for any updates which may become available. This year, many students will attended 11 new schools built in the area.
