Bernie Brillstein dead at 77

Bernie Brillstein, a multi-talented Hollywood icon who catapulted many to fame by launching their comic careers and contributed to the launch of many television/movie hits died at the age of 77.

Brillstein died at Los Angeles hospital on Thursday. He was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Bernie Brillstein is known for his quick rise to power in the movie/television industry. He climbed from being a mailroom employee at a talent agency to representing numerous stars, which he later produced some of their productions.

Bernie Brillstein is credited with laucnhing the career of John Belushi, a famous comedian who starred in hits including “Animal House”. Belushi’s drug induced death had a signficant impact on Brilltein. Brillstein founded a management and production company with his partner in ’91.

Many say Bernie Brillstein had very caring relationships with his clients. This doens’t come as a surprise to us, given the large amount of success many of Brillstein’s clients were able to achive. It’s quite apparent that he will be missed by many, even those who never met him but appreciated the talent he brought mainstream.
