Blockbuster sides with Blu-Ray
Video retailer Blockbuster announced today that it will be only stocking Blu-Ray videos in its expansion of 1,700 stores. Blockbuster based the decision on a 70-30 rentals split in stores currently stocking both HD DVD and Blu-Ray. The video retailer will still provide both disc formats online, and in stores which already carry both. My take on this: it will either tremendously help Blockbuster, or it may prove harmful. Only time will tell exactly which disc format will prevail. I am very confident that in the long run they will not be able to co-exist.
