NCLB leaving schools to restructure
The Associated Press is reporting that nearly 2,300 schools are in the process of restructing or will be in the future. This comes after all the schools failed to meet testing goals under the No Child Left Behind act. Part of the restructuring may include the acquistion of new principals and teachers. If these schools don’t begin to meet standards instated under NCLB, our future looks somewhat bleak.
The standards set by NCLB are anything but demanding, so why are so many schools unable to keep up with them? My guess is incompetent teachers, so why haven’t they been replaced yet? Oh yeah, maybe because many of these schools are in low-income neighborhoods. Who wants to work there? I’ll tell you who, nobody. So what are the schools and students left to do? Absolutely nothing.
