Information issues may have lead to VT Massacre
A Virginia Tech report that was concluded Wednesday claims that problems with relaying information may have contributed to the execution of the Virginia Tech massacre. Apparently, it was unclear to some medical and education officials whether or not they could share information about any student they deemed unstable.
Well, it would seem to me as it would be common sense to share information about somebody who could pose a danger to his or herself and others. Further, I feel that the conduct of the justice community was rather inappropriate in the months leading up to the massacre. When Seung-Hui Cho was reported by his roommate of being suicidal, a judge ordered him to undergo a psychological evaluation. However, what the judge forgot to do was enter his name into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. This move cleared the way for Cho to buy a firearm, and ultimately carry out his selfish and inhumane crime.
