Today, more and more questions and even fewer answers are emerging about Bruco Strongeagle Eastwood, the man who went on a shooting rampage yesterday at Deer Creek Middle School in Littleton, Colorado. In the process, Eastwood injured one male and female who have been identified as students. Although initial reports stated that Bruco Strongeagle Eastwood had no connection with the middle school, it was revealed by investigators today that he had a short stint at the school in the process of working on obtaining a GED. According to officials, Eastwood gained access to the campus grounds after checking in at the front office. It has not been made clear what he told administrative personnel to be issued a guest pass. A few hours after checking in, Eastwood approached students asking them whether they attended the school. It is after they answered that the began to fire gunshot rounds at them. Thanks to the help of a math teacher and other staff at the school, Eastwood was apprehended by police with no further incident.
The 32-year old man who has a history of mental problems, further confirmed by interviews various media outlets have held with his father, is currently being held on $1 million dollars bail. Police continue to investigate the matter to hopefully uncover whether or not Eastwood had some extraneous motives in carrying out the shooting, beyond his obvious mental incompetency. The news of this tragic shooting comes nearly 12 years after a 12 person massacre at nearby Columbine high school, where two students, who authorities later identified as social outcasts, went on a shooting rampage causing casualties as well as injuries. Images of this tragedy continued to be cemented in the mind’s of Littleton residents and school officials, who have been regularly planning drills in the event that such a tragic situation is ever to again unfold. Deer Creek Middle School officials have attributed the comparatively positive outcome of this recent shooting to such drills.
We send our best wishes to the families of the shooting victims and hope they are able to recover without any long-lasting injuries.
