I have three paintings that I call drip art because black paint is dripped on creating an outline. The one is signed at the top by Jose Durante of a Conquistador the other two are ocean battles that I never noticed being signed but made and purchased at the same time. All three over 50 years old.

He is Matt Nix's godfather! He was the true inspiration for Burn Notice. Well, it's kept under the hat, though. When Jose was young, he was caught in fixes like the ones on the episodes and he used to hire a David Fleigh for his jobs, who was an ex-marine.... RIP Jose, a good friend and a talent behind the scenes !

Jose Rodriguez Duarte not only my grandfather but i considered him my father and best friend. He was the most talented man i have ever met and will probably ever meet in my life. He was the most caring, loving and family oriented man. He was a very special part of the movie industry but he never left his family he did he work mostly in miami because he couldnt stand the thought of being too far from us...my heart will never be the same as a big chunk has been torn.....i love you abuelo life will never be the same without you....

I just read all this, and while I have no idea his connection to burn notice, however I can of course assume he had some production involvement in it, I must say. He sounds like a seriously great man. I've read bits here and there, and -wow- he is epitomized as a great man, a great father, a great painter[even if not famous for it], but above all, a well remembered member of society. I don't know him, I never heard of him till I saw the episode and looked it up. But rarely do my internet searches find someone so well revered. Sounds like his loss is ours.
Sorry to his family, and anyone he worked with. I'm sure you all miss him, and love him. Thanks for having this webpage so I can find out about this great person who touched us all for so many years.
